  • Open PEPPOL workshop

    Description: GS1 signed an Memorandum of Understanding with OpenPEPPOL on the 27th of March 2019. GS1 and OpenPEPPOL acknowledge that they can benefit from an immediate joint collaboration and from sharing technical expertise on topics like EDI semantic modelling, syntax bindings, business rules coding, communication protocols, validation and identity management. This workshop will include a high-level presentation on PEPPOL and some information on the PEPPOL specifications. It will also include a discussion on the opportunity for GS1 MOs and GS1 EDI users to participate in the PEPPOL Network.

  • GS1 meets Fintech: Standards in financial services

    Description: GS1's involvement in the financial industry is currently not organised in a cohesive way. We provide industry assistance with cash management and EDI, and provide the LEI. But there is much more to this industry as we look into Fintech’s future, growing demand for KYC, and new standardization initiatives launched by the industry in trade finance. This workshop will explore GS1's strategic opportunities in the financial sector. To aid in this discussion, Michal Piechocki, CEO of Business Reporting – Advisory Group will talk with us about the use of standards at financial institutions and the value they deliver. As an expert in Fintech, he will also discuss his work with GLEIF on digital credentials, which could be a service the GS1 Global LOU could provide in addition to the LEI. Last but not least, being familiar with the GS1 system of standards, Michal will illustrate opportunities for GS1 standards in the financial industry.

  • Creating the Global Data Model: progress on our journey, Industry & GS1

    Description: ​The objective of the Global Data Model Project is to simplify and harmonise the exchange of master data by aligning data models (a set of GS1 data attributes) at global and/or regional level. This session will provide an overview of the work accomplished to date including: 1. Creating the Global Data Model, starting with FMCG Food and Near-Food (e.g. skin care, laundry detergent, household cleaning products) with other product categories to follow and 2. Developing business friendly data attribute names and definitions for the attributes in the Global Data Model. The session will also give insights on the first pilot implementations across the globe and explain in what way the Global Data Model is truly a fast track to the global market for industry all around the world.

  • GS1 in rail: on track

    Description: ​The Rail Industry has started implementing GS1 standards since 2013, applying our identifiers with EPC to trace vehicles. Since 2017 major railway operators and manufacturers of parts have switched to a higher gear, adopting the GS1 standards to both rolling stock and infrastructure at a very high speed.
